My Uncle gave me this sketch of my Grandparents house as a Christmas gift.
I have many memories of my Grandparent's house in Buffalo. It was a great place to visit! My favorite thing about the house was that it has 2 staircases. The main stair case was beautiful with great spindles and a leaded stained glass window at the bend in the stairs. The back stairs were right off of the kitchen. The kitchen had a very high ceiling with tall cabinets that went on forever. The kitchen had a full swinging door. There was a screened in porch with great wicker furniture. Grandma had custom cushions and curtains made and it was a great place to sit and visit (but the best seat was the rocking chair that was for Grandpa!). Right outside the porch door was a big forysithia bush that was amazing in the spring. Since the house sits on a corner lot there is a privacy fence that had flowers and raspberry bushes along it. In the summer you could bet that Grandma's well bleached Tretorn sneakers would be drying on the clothes line. The well manicured hedges that lined the front side of the house were always lush and tall. Over the years the front door was many colors but the best was when it was pink. I could go on and on but suffice it to say that I have many fond memories of 227. As a child I was sure that someday I would have a house that would definitely have 2 things; a door that closed the kitchen off from the rest of the house and 2 staircases. I have neither but still dream of both.
