I had another birthday and since I'm still 28 I don't feel any different. I got to have birthday cake several times so that is always wonderful. There is nothing better than an ice cream cake from Ice Cream World (all vanilla, extra crunchies, NO fudge) to make my day! My parents took the kids and me out to lunch. I also got a wonderful gift from a dear friend. She had been up all night canning peaches for her family and brought me some. I love peaches and what a thoughtful gift!

We went camping with some other families from church for the long Labor Day weekend. We went to Hamlin Beach and I didn't hate it! While I don't think that it would ever be my first choice for "family fun" I could manage to do it once a year. The kids really loved it and Shane is such an outdoorsy kind of guy. Apparently there were skunks everywhere from dusk until dawn. Had I encountered one we would have had to end our trip! Jack had a ball cutting up wood for the fire with an ax. I was impressed at his strength and skill.

Claire was great too! She will surely love girls camp in a few years. She enjoyed the food cooked over the fire and smoores! She had fun with the other girls which she doesn't get toi do much. The hours spent at the beach were her favorite.
