Families Are Forever

We are a proud Latter Day Saint family. We know that families are forever and that gives us comfort!

I have come to the conclusion that we need to look for a new hockey club for next year. This has been our most stressful year yet. Jack is at the end of his first year as a Pee Wee. Mom survived his first year on a checking team! The referees this year were horrendous! Kids this age just want everything to be FAIR. Many of the games were very one-sided which was frustrating but also left the boys (and our goalie Serina) at risk of serious injury. There were hits from behind, one game a boy got a stick to the neck that mysteriously no ref saw, pokes at the goalie.....the list is endless. The referees are paid and we filled out referee evaluations after each game which fell on deaf ears. Monroe County Hockey seems to be falling apart and I plan to abandon ship. It is house hockey and the fun has been sucked out.
On a more positive note, Jack has really blossomed as a player this year. He is outstanding at defense but equally as strong as a winger. He plays hockey left handed and is amazing at playing his position (which was uncommon among some teammates!) As a family we really enjoy hockey. Dad is a great coach (and he plays in a men's league too) and we watch the Sabres together as well. I just hope that Jack will want to continue next year. He is really very good and I think it is great to have something for him to enjoy!
