The Temple

Fall has always been my favorite season. The colors in Upstate NY never disappoint me and the cool crisp air just seems to cleanse my lungs. Our first trip to the temple was well suited for such a beautiful morning. The leaves were just about at their peak and the grounds of the temple were nothing short of amazing!

We entered the temple a bit nervous; the unknown can always make me a bit uneasy! The building is the most spectacular thing we have ever seen. The ornate details really astonished us. The fine gold lines appeared to be flawlessly hand painted throughout the building. The temple workers were just marvelous with us and that put us both at ease instantly. The whole experience was perfect.

We were fortunate to have our good friends be our escorts through the temple. We felt so loved to have them with us and to feel their love for us. They were able to explain things and to us and guide us through. I must admit that they were a comfort to us both.
When we entered the first room with our escorts we were surprised to see our GREAT friends from North Carolina, George and Michelle! They had come all that way to be with us and that was a special gift. George baptized both of us and they are both such precious friends. We were caught a bit off guard by just how many people came to the temple to be with us on such an important day. We felt so good about the whole day. The support and kindness was immense.

When we entered the Sealing room it was filled with the smiling faces of so many people that have played an enormous roll in supporting us and guiding us to reach this point. The room was full of joy and I have never felt so much warmth, peace and happiness as I did then. It was a feeling that there are no words to describe.
I had been referring to our Sealing as "renewing our vows". That wasn't even close. I knew what we were doing, being sealed for eternity but what I didn't realize was how I would feel after. It is difficult to find words to describe. Calm, fulfilled, fortunate. It was as if the Holy Ghost has whispered that all was as it should be. I know that all of the little things are just that, minor blips in our eternity. I have a new perspective and I know that things are as they should be. We both feel a new (or perhaps "renewed") closeness that is really special.
As the economy becomes increasingly uncertain with each passing day and the world as a whole gets more unstable we find so much comfort in each other and our children as well. We will continue to prepare for whatever may come. Our next goal is to get back to the temple as soon as possible to be sealed with the children!
